My Effective Design Process

Everything needs a process to run smoothly and efficiently. Graphic Design is no different than any other job that has many moving variables.

My design process in a nutshell.

(Depending on the project or depth of the assignment)

  • Sketching
  • Jotting ideas in a notebook
  • Stylescape mood boards
  • Research
  • Strategy
  • Design & Develop
  • Create
  • Produce

Yes, graphic design is work. Work that I am good at. But I think of myself like a professional baseball player who gets to do what he loves and gets paid for it. Except, I can’t play baseball for a living. So I get to do the next best thing that I am good at – Graphic Design.

So I don’t really consider it work. I consider it my calling. But it does help to get paid doing what I love to do.

My Strengths

  • Creative Visual Artist
  • Clever and punny
  • Budget-conscious
  • People person
  • Out of the box thinker
  • Coffee lover
  • Rapport builder
  • Knowledge seeker
  • Qualifier
  • Story Teller
  • Closer

What do I like doing?

I’m a gadget guy. I love tools.  My iMac computer is my tool of choice. It’s the hammer in my toolbox.

Before the Mac became a tool everything was hands-on work. I actually had to use pencils, pastel chalk, ink pens, paintbrushes, magic markers, film, airbrush, Letraset rub-down type, and rubber cement.

If something needed to be altered, it became a huge process. Now, changes are fairly easy depending on what the change is and how many changes.

My next favorite tool is my camera.

It used to be cameras, but my new Nikon D3300 can capture static still shots and video. It all depends on what is required. And for convenience, I use my iPhone. But if I want quality, I go with the Nikon D3300.

Now tell me what you’re good at. Give me a call and we can chat or grab a coffee or do a zoom call. Your choice. I can be called directly at 732.539.0865 or via email at Mark@ReganGraphicDesign.com
