Political Pollution
Tomorrow, November 3rd is Election Day and I can’t wait until it’s over.
I can’t remember a worse time to be in politics or wade through all the garbage, lies, and mudslinging that have been thrown around via social media and door hangers and I’m not even talking about the national election.
My son is running for council in our little NJ town. Eatontown, NJ. His opponents stated that he wasted millions of tax dollars? Mark has been on council for only one year filling a seat vacated by another councilperson who couldn’t put up with all the fighting in their own party. If the party can’t get along, how can they come together for the betterment of our town?
Yes, I’m biased, but I think that my son is doing a great job as a councilman. Not only is he the youngest person ever elected to the council in our town, but he is also a very well-spoken and very intelligent young man.
I could call him a kid because he’s my son, but he is a grown man with his own mind and voice.
My son, Mark Jr., ran for the one-year unexpired term last November and won. Now he is on the ballot for the full 3-year term and I think he will be successful.
His opponents who have not even volunteered to help with any organization in town, not the Lions, not the Elks, not the Food Bank, not the cleanup committee… nothing.
How are they supposed to represent our town if they are not part of our town? They are apart from our town. They are spouting how they will save tax dollars, make our schools better, and enhance the lives of our residents.
I don’t know how they will do this because they support programs that will cost the town money – costs that will raise taxes. And if they are worried about making our schools better, they could have run for the school board rather than the council.
Sorry to use this post to rant, but I wanted to support my son and wish the best for him and his running mate Jim. They will be great council members and hopefully, we will know the results before Thanksgiving since this election is an all mail-in process this year.
